• In Asia, investor sentiment has also been supported by a raft of upbeat economic news out of China. MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan .MIAPJ0000PUS was up 0.55 percent at its highest since April 2015.
• Japanese stocks edged up in choppy trade on Wednesday, with buying in defensive stocks offsetting worries about the impact of a stronger yen as the U.S. dollar flounders.
The Nikkei share average was up 0.1 percent to 20,020.86 after dipping into negative territory.
• China's benchmark stock indexes rose on Wednesday, but small caps extended losses on fears that regulators will roll out more tightening measures as they clamp down on riskier types of financing.
The blue-chip CSI300 index rose 0.4 percent to 3,682.26 points by 0202 GMT, while the Shanghai Composite Index also gained 0.4 percent to 3,199.40.
