• Asian stock markets stabilized near three-month highs on Wednesday, helped by Hong Kong and Chinese shares, as investors judged U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's concerns over a stronger dollar to be beneficial to some of the regional bourses.

MSCI's ex-Japan Asia-Pacific shares index .MIAPJ0000PUS rose 0.4 percent, just shy of a three-month high hit last Thursday.

• Jan 18 Japanese stocks rose on Wednesday after recovering from five-week lows as the yen weakened against the dollar and helped restore investor sentiment.

The Nikkei share average rose 0.4 percent to 18,894.37, crawling back from its intraday low of 18,650.33 hit in the morning, its weakest level since Dec. 8.

• Jan 18 China's main stock indexes rose on Wednesday as some industrial heavyweights forecast sharply higher profits for 2016, but small caps wobbled near a 16-month low.

The blue-chip CSI300 index rose 0.4 percent to 3,339.37 points, while the Shanghai Composite Index added0.1 percent to 3,113.01.
