Japanese stocks soared on Tuesday after a weaker yen and a bounce in oil prices helped the market reverse the previous day's steep decline.

The Nikkei share average climbed 3.7 percent to 16,874.44, erasing the previous day's 3.4 percent decline.

Hong Kong stocks tracked regional markets higher on Tuesday, with risk appetites rekindled by a rebound in crude oil prices which boosted most markets, traders said.

The Hang Seng index ended up 1.3 percent, to 21,436.21 points, while the China Enterprises Index rose 1.7 percent, to 9,244.45 points.

China stocks closed marginally up on Tuesday, as investors weighed conflicting signals over the path of China's economic recovery.

The CSI300 index of the largest listed companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen rose 0.3 percent, to 3,238.30, while the Shanghai Composite Index gained 0.3 percent, to 3,042.82 points
