• Asian stocks rose on Thursday, getting a lift from a record high close on MSCI's global stocks benchmark as strong gains in oil prices buoyed energy shares.

MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan and Japan's Nikkei both rose 0.3 percent on Thursday.

• Japanese stocks were flat in choppy trade on Thursday morning as optimism from the weakening yen offset mixed performances in U.S. shares overnight, while Toyota Motor declined after its forecast undershot analyst expectations.

The Nikkei share average rose 0.1 percent to 19,922.78 points in midmorning trade, while the broader Topix fell 0.1 percent to 1,583.78 points.

• China stocks reversed earlier losses to end higher on Thursday, with sentiment helped by expectations that the central bank will inject funds via its medium-term lending facility on Friday.

The blue-chip CSI300 index rose 0.6 percent to 3,356.65 points, while the Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.3 percent to 3,061.50 points.

· In Hong Kong, stocks extended gains to a fresh 21-month high, with sentiment lifted by strength in other Asian markets, and by signs money was continuing to flow in from mainland China.

The Hang Seng index added 0.3 percent, to 25,078.83 points.
