Asian stocks were mostly higher on Tuesday, in thin trade and with little to guide them as most major markets were closed on Monday for Christmas holidays, while the dollar reclaimed its losses from Monday.

MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan .MIAPJ0000PUS was marginally higher, with Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong closed.

Dec 27 Japanese stocks were nearly flat on Tuesday in thin trade, while Toshiba Corp plummeted nearly 12 percent after saying that it was considering booking a goodwill impairment loss of several hundreds of billion yen.

The Nikkei ended 0.03 percent higher at 19,403.06, but the broader Topix fell 0.1 percent to 1,536.22.

China’s main stock indexes inched down in light trading on Tuesday as many investors shrugged off data showing solid profit growth for the industrial sector in November.

The CSI300 index fell 0.2 percent, to 3,316.65 points, while the Shanghai Composite Index lost 0.2 percent, to 3,115.00 points.
